CU Women's Basketball Preview - vs. Vassar/Bard (1/4-5)

Before embarking on a seven-game streak of road games, the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team will host Vassar College and Bard College this weekend in a return to Liberty League play.

The Series vs. Bard: The Golden Knights have won 11 straight meetings against the Raptors and are 13-1 all-time versus Bard. Clarkson has won by double figures in 10 of the 11 consecutive victories, with the other win still a nine-point margin.

The Series vs. Vassar: The Brewers claimed a season sweep of Clarkson last year, breaking a tie in the near two-decade old series. Vassar won both games in 2017-18 by double figures and had won three of the past four games overall.

Key Stats for Clarkson (4-5, 1-2 Liberty League): No team in the Liberty League takes more 3-point field goals than the Golden Knights, as Clarkson has hoisted 25.33 long-range shots per game. Clarkson has also been active on the offensive glass recently, averaging 19 rebounds in its own end over the last three contests. Junior Molly Stewart tied the program record for made 3-pointers in a game against D'Youville last Sunday, scoring a career-high 29 points in the process. She leads the team with 14.2 points per game.

Key Stats for Vassar (8-2, 2-1 Liberty League): The Brewers have won five straight games and eight times in 10 games so far thanks to a diverse offense. Sophie Nick leads the team in scoring (16.7 ppg) and rebounding (10.0 rpg) and has yet to miss from the free throw line, making all 35 of her attempts. Although Nick leads the team in scoring, Jackie Cenan (14.9 ppg) and Isa Peczuh (14.5 ppg) have each notched three 20-point games this year, one more than Nick.

Key Stats for Bard (4-3, 0-2 Liberty League): After averaging 39.66 points per game over the last two seasons, the Raptors are led by a freshman class that has the team clicking at 60.9 ppg in 2018. Freshman guard Christina Kiser leads the team and league in scoring at 29.8 points per game, though she has competed in only five of the squad's seven contests. Classmate Jess Rylander made up for her absence in two league games, averaging 22.0 ppg in those contests. Bard has taken nearly twice as many 3-pointers (168) as its opponents (89).
