The top of the Liberty League standings have tightened up after games from this past weekend and this Saturday's contest could provide some clarity for the playoff picture as the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team and Rensselaer will face off with first place on the line.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: Although Clarkson is 22-29-4 all-time against Rensselaer, the Engineers are 11-1-1 since the 2006 season. The Golden Knights' lone win in that span came on an overtime goal in 2017. The two teams have played virtually even the past three years with RPI holding a 30-29 edge in shots in that time frame.

Key Stats for Clarkson (8-4-2, 4-1-2 Liberty League): Few teams in the nation have as much parity in their scoring as the Golden Knights. Thirteen different players have scored for the Knights, including three new scorers this past weekend against Bard and Vassar. Only four players have scored multiple times for the Knights, led by Mack Walton's eight points (three goals, two assists). Walton easily leads the team in shots with 36, nearly triple that of any other player with the next two being Henry Gomez (15) and Matt Adamou (15). Ian Roeloffs is posting a 0.94 goals against average with .806 save percentage to go along with 50 saves and six shutouts, the second most in the Liberty League.

Key Stats for Rensselaer (13-1-1, 5-0-1 Liberty League): At the other end of the spectrum is RPI's freshman sensation Josh Gaudiano. The first-year collegian has five game-winning goals and leads the conference in points (35) and goals scored (15). Gaudiano also has scored at least one point in 10 straight games, including seven goals and two assists in Liberty League contests. The Engineers are allowing a goal per game, but the team is first in goals (37) and second in goals per game (2.467), trailing only Union in the latter category, though the Dutchmen did most of their scoring in non-league games back in September. Trevor Bisson is also among the team leaders in scoring with nine points and he has scored a goal in each of the Engineers' last two games against the Knights.
