In an evenly played game throughout, the Big Red's highly rated power play proved to be the difference.

Tied 2-2 midway through the final period, Cornell went on its only man-advantage of the night at 9:07 of the third and connected with 41 seconds left in the power play. Cam Donaldson pounced on a loose buck after a rebound off a Ben Berard shot squirted out to left side of the net. Donaldson fired in his first goal of the year before Clarkson goaltender Frank Marotte could cover the short side at 10:26 for the game-winner, which ended the Knights' successful penalty kill streak at 25 straight.

Michael Reqush sealed the road win for the Big Red with an empty-net tally with 1:27 remaining.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, the teams traded two goals apiece in the middle frame for a 2-2 tie after two periods.

Cornell struck first with a goal by Travis Mitchell at 11:15. The Big Red made it 2-0 just over two minutes later when Alex Green kept the puck in at the blueline and fed a pass into the slot to Jeff Malott, who fired in a wrist shot at 13:47.

Clarkson came right back with a power-play score. Just 16 seconds into their second man-advantage opportunity of the night, junior defenseman Connor McCarthy (LaSalle, QUE) took a pass from senior Haralds Egle (Lieoaia, Latvia) at the left circle and sent in a quick shot to the short side past Cornell goaltender Matthew Galajda at 15:27 for his first goal of the season. Clarkson's Captain Devin Brosseau (St. Lambert, QUE) also assisted.

With 1:55 remaining in the period, Brosseau took a long pass from McCarthy and snapped in a low wrist shot from the right circle for his fifth goal of the season and 96th career point to tie the game.

Both teams had 31 shots on goal. Clarkson was 1-of-2 on the power play, while Cornell was 1-of-1.
