It's hard to believe but the season for the Clarkson University Men's Lacrosse team is already half over, meaning the Golden Knights have nothing but Liberty League foes remaining on the schedule and the Green and Gold will begin their seven-game stretch against conference opponents starting Saturday when the team travels to take on Union College.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: In the 40 previous contests, Union has won 25 times, including five straight. The Dutchmen rallied from a one-goal deficit in the second quarter of last year's game and never trailed again after back-to-back goals just eight seconds apart midway through that period.

Key Stats for Clarkson (5-3, 0-1 Liberty League): Sophomore Riley Holzman is winning 56.5% of his faceoffs this year, but he has been slightly better in the last four games, coming up with wins 62.4% of the time with 37 groundballs in that stretch. His 6.13 groundballs per game rank second in the conference. The team's leading scorer, Conor Bartlett, enjoyed a solid game against the Dutchmen last year, scoring five points on three goals and two assists, and this year he has posted 16 goals and 12 assists for 28 points. Clarkson's starting defense of upperclassmen Thomas Stanton, Trevor Borchardt and Liam St. Croix has combined for 39 groundballs and 27 caused turnovers. Clarkson ranks second in the league in man-up situations, scoring 14 times in 36 tries at a 38.9% success clip.

Key Stats for Union (6-1, 1-0 Liberty League): The Dutchmen are excelling on both sides of the ball this year, outscoring opponents 106-44 and ranking second in the league in goals (15.14 gpg) and scoring defense (6.29 gpg). Although the Dutchmen have struggled to score when the opponent is whistled for an infraction (2-for-19), Union also ranks first in the league in fewest goals allowed on the penalty kill (2-for-21, .095). Goalkeeper Jack Santilli is second in the Liberty League in both goals against average (6.17) and save percentage (.634) while ranking among his team's leaders in groundballs (20). Kerry Lyne leads the team in scoring with 26 points (21-5-26), but he has been even more proficient in his last two games, posting 11 points, including nine goals, in that stretch. Hayden Frey, second on the team in scoring (15-5-20), also enjoyed two solid outings recently, scoring nine points in the last two contests.
