Geneseo, NY – Scoring opportunities were rare on Saturday afternoon as the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat at Geneseo.

The Golden Knights dropped to 2-2 on the season, while Geneseo remained unbeaten at 3-0. Clarkson remains on the road next weekend when the team faces Utica College.

Neither Clarkson nor Geneseo reached double digits in shots on the day, with the Golden Knights possessing a modest 8-6 lead in attempts, but the home team had three shots on goal against Clarkson's one. Geneseo made one of its chances count as Caleb Murthy began the Knights' scoring play by sending a free kick from about 35 yards out to the far post, finding Bryan Wager in front at the 15:05 mark for a 1-0 Geneseo lead.

Clarkson nearly tied the game shortly thereafter on a long shot from Erick Naula, but the attempt one-hopped into goalkeeper Will Price's arms.

The Golden Knights registered four more shots early in the second half with Henry Gomez, Ben Root, Cam Emde-Gerdine and Matt Adamou all taking their chances at the frame, but each attempt was off target. Adamou's shot at 64:10 was Clarkson's last shot of the game.

Ian Roeloffs finished with three saves for Clarkson and Will Price made one stop for Geneseo. Each team also had three corner kick chances.
