Knights lose on the road to RIT

Clarkson suffered their first loss of the season 8-5 to the Tigers of RIT at the Pollisseni Center in Rochester.

The Knights fell behind 2-0 in the first period as the Tigers got goals from Hamacher and Calverley.  Freshman Ethan Haider made 5 saves on 7 shots in the first period.   The Knights were 0/1 on the Power Play in the first period.

In the 2nd, the Knights got on the board when Freshman Alex Campbell got his first goal as a Golden Knight 2:57 into the period.    RIT Took a 3-1 lead late in the 2nd on a power play goal, but Anthony Romano got his 2nd goal of the year, just seconds later to pull within 1 after two periods of play.  Haider ended with 4 saves on 5 shots in the 2nd.

The third period was a frantic pace back and forth.   Grant Cooper  and Noah Beck scored in the first 2 minutes of the third to give the Knights a 4-3 lead.  The Knights held the lead until RIT received goals from Gonsalves and Calverley to go back up 5-4.  The Knights tied it up when Romano got his 2nd of the game at 12:01, but the Tigers took the lead for good when Calverley got his 3rd goal of the game.  RIT would get another at 16:44 and then an empty net goal to seal it at 18:35.  Ethan Haider made 14 saves on 22 shots.  Kris Oldham relieved him for the final 5:29 and allowed a goal on 1 shot.

The Knights went 0 for 3 with the man advantage, while RIT was 2-4 on the Power Play.

The Knights will be right back at it against the Tigers this Sunday when they host RIT at Cheel.  Reminder, there will be no spectators allowed in Cheel for home games this season.
