Michigan Tech was able to ride a 2 goal effort from Brian Halonen to take game 1 of the weekend series, 3-0.
The Huskies were able to frustrate the Clarkson power play holding them to no goals on six attempts.
The first period saw a 10-4 shot advantage for MTU but the play was not as lopsided as the shot totals. MTU got their first goal just :37 seconds into the 2nd period and then was able to double the lead at 15:09. Halonen got both markers for the Huskies.
In the third period Clarkson held a 12-3 shot advantage but was unable to breakthrough despite 3 power plays.
Ethan Haider made 20 saves on the night.
