Clarkson and Cornell met down in Ithaca, several months after the epic game at Cheel back on December 4th, and the story looked to be similar for a bit. Cornell took a 2-0 lead after the first period and then a 3-0 lead in the second. Clarkson fought their way back into the game behind 2 straight power play goals to pull within one goal. Cornell scored a disputed a goal to go up 4-2 and then the Knights got a power play with about 3 minutes left. Clarkson pulled their goalie twice over the last few minutes, and Cornell was able to pop two empty net goals to end up with a 6-2 win.
Clarkson got goals from
Anthony Romano and
Nick Campoli.
Ethan Haider made 19 saves in the game on 23 shots.
Next up the Knights will host Yale and Brown at Cheel. With Quinnipiac's loss to Harvard, Clarkson is still only 1 point behind the Bobcats but still haven't clinched 2nd place.
