Potsdam, NY – Five different goal scorers found the back of the net for the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team as the Golden Knights dominated from start to finish in a 5-0 victory against SUNY Canton on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Knights, receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches' poll, improved to 4-0-1 on the season, while the Kangaroos fell to 0-4-1. Clarkson takes on Cortland State on Saturday and then faces #14 Middlebury College on Sunday.

Clarkson controlled the tempo and possession throughout Wednesday's contest, rarely allowing the Roos to string multiple passes together and intercepting goal kicks and free kicks to regain possession themselves. It seemed only a matter of time before one of the Knights scoring chances would come to fruition, and it came to pass in the 21st minute. Maddie Lopol's shot hit the right post and bounced back out to Lillian Gillett, who was able to finish off the play and give Clarkson a 1-0 lead. It would take another 23 minutes before the Knights would pick up another. Shortly after a shot from Julia Tylar hit the crossbar, Clarkson regrouped with possession at the left sideline. Emily Davis sent a short pass to Haley Archambault, who niftily side-stepped a Canton defender to cross the ball back in the middle. From there, the pass found the left foot of Carly Spinella, as the sophomore one-timed a shot into the back of the net at 43:04.

Clarkson kept the pressure on in the second half at the same rate as it did in the first, netting three more scores. The first came on a solid individual effort from Tonia Kousmanidis, who dodged several Canton players before unleashing a hard shot with her right foot at 57:50. Less than 10 minutes later, a cross from the right side by Arin Bates found the foot of Chloe Hodge, who quickly tapped a shot to the opposite post for a goal at 67:08. The Knights added another goal in the final five minutes when Hailey Hansen delivered a long pass from the Clarkson defensive midfield to Emma Robinson. The freshman collected the pass with a header and played it to her feet, chipping in a shot with her left at 85:40 to round out the Clarkson scoring.

The Golden Knights finished with a 43-0 lead in shots, and a 23-0 advantage in shots on goal. Clarkson further controlled the contest with 12 corner kick chances. Molly DiCaprio and Ava Pushor combined for the shutout, as each played 45 minutes of the game. Skylar Williams made 18 saves for the Kangaroos.
