The Series: The Golden Knights will be looking for a repeat of last year's results, in a way. Although Clarkson was swept in the regular season by the Herons, when the two teams met in the playoffs, the match went to five sets and the Knights were two points away from a victory. Clarkson was similarly swept in the regular season this year and will be looking for another strong showing in the postseason.

Key Stats for Clarkson (13-13, 3-5 Liberty League): One of the problems that the Knights had in the first meeting this season was on offense, as the team hit just .035 in the match (22-19-85). That was close to the same as last year (21-14-102, .069) and Clarkson rallied to double that figure (50-26-182, .132) in the playoff meeting. Freshman Conley Burns, a strong candidate for conference Rookie of the Year, leads the team with 3.32 kills per set, the most by a first-year player at Clarkson since Aishvina Arasu had 3.42 kills per set in 2012. Clarkson also hopes to ride a strong service game from Olivia Baxter (57 aces) and Marin Hangliter (56 aces).

Key Stats for William Smith (21-6, 6-2 Liberty League): Malya Sayre is a frequent target for attacks for the Herons, and with good reason as she averages 4.76 kills per set, which ranks in the top 10 nationally in Division III. More impressively, she is doing so with a .259 hitting percentage, a solid average for an outside hitter. As a team, the Herons are hitting .265, a figure that places the team fifth nationally. Jaclynn McCarthy (.345), Hope Von Dohlen (.320), Arielle Newsome (.312), Sayre, and Emily Fulton (.237) are all frequent targets of setter Delainy Williams, who averages 10.85 assists per set, placing her third in the country in that category.
