Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Burns Busy in Fourth But Knights Fall Short at Skidmore, 66-56

Saratoga Springs, NY – Raelin Burns buried several 3-pointers in the fourth quarter in hopes of giving the Clarkson University Women's Basketball team its second straight comeback win, but time ran out on the Golden Knights as Skidmore College picked up a 66-56 victory on Saturday.

The Golden Knights finished off their season at 10-15 overall and 6-12 in Liberty League play, while Skidmore moved to 14-11 and 12-6. Clarkson's 10 wins matched the most for the program in a season since the 2017-18 season.

Through the first five minutes, Skidmore rolled out to a 13-2 lead as Amelia Medolla had seven of the team's first nine points and Becca Horger capped on the final four of that streak. The Knights finished off the final four-plus minutes with a run of their own, going on an 11-4 sprint, including a final possession layup from Lexi Huiatt. The break between periods was enough to allow Skidmore to halt the momentum. The Thoroughbreds used numerous 3-pointers in the second quarter, including three from Andi Levitz, as Skidmore began the period on a 21-3 run, doubling up the Knights at the half.

Raelin Burns hit a 3-pointer and then had another three-point play the old fashioned way with a layup and free throw early on in the third, to get Clarkson back within 17 at the 6:38 mark. A few moments later, Addie Kea hit back-to-back 3-pointers to reduce the margin to 16, but every time the Knights went on a small streak, Skidmore had an answer, usually on a long-range shot from Levitz, who had 22 points in the second and third quarters alone.

The gap remained around 20 and stretched to 23 with 6:09 to go, but a barrage of 3-pointers from Burns helped trim the deficit to 11 points at the 2:27 mark. Although the Knights were held off the board for the next two minutes, Burns banged home another 3-pointer to pull the Knights within eight. However, that would be as close as Clarkson would get with time running out on the Green and Gold comeback.

Burns finished with 23 points, shooting 8-for-16 overall and 6-for-11 from the 3-point arc to lead the Knights. Lexi Huiatt also added nine rebounds and three steals. For Skidmore, Andi Levitz scored 22 points, going 8-for-14 from the field and 6-for-11 from the arc. Amelia Medolla chipped in nine points and seven boards.
