The Series: The last meeting between the two teams, a 7-1 win for Plattsburgh, went against the grain compared to other recent contests. In the previous four meetings before the aforementioned contest, at least one team reached double figures in scoring. Plattsburgh won the other meeting in 2024, 12-10, and the Knights put up 34 runs against the Cardinals in two 2023 games, but were only able to come away with a 1-1 record because the Cardinals scored 20. The 2022 contest was also a slugfest, a 16-10 Plattsburgh win.

Key Stats for Clarkson (9-9): After an impressive start on offense, Clarkson has been held to five runs or fewer in each of its last six games, including a doubleheader on Friday in which the Knights scored six total runs. Fortunately, Clarkson's pitching staff has found a bit of a recent groove. In the first 15 games of the season, the Knights moundsmen had four games with 10 or more strikeouts, but last week the staff recorded 36 strikeouts in 25 innings of work, with all three seeing the team surpass 10 strikeouts. Cole Riskin was a big part of that, as he fanned 11 in seven innings of work against Hobart.

Key Stats for Plattsburgh State (5-9): This will be the first of a six-game homestand for the Cardinals after the first 14 games of the year were either played on the road or at a neutral site. Plattsburgh's offense isn't hitting at the rate it did a year ago when the team collectively slashed .308/.416/.431 with 24 home runs in 40 games. Through 14 contests this year, the Cardinals have just one home run with a .251/.330/.385 slash. Josh Foglia leads the team at .324/.410/.500 while both TJ Beninati (.314) and Joey DiRocco (.308) are hitting above .300.
