PETE GANLEY '72
Class of 1995 Inductee

The most prolific scorer in Clarkson basketball history, Pete Ganley was an all-star guard for the Golden Knights during the early 1970s. Years before the advent of the three-point shot, Ganley's bull's eye accuracy from long-range and as his power and finesse underneath earned him the legacy as one of the top scorers in the country. A 6'2" scoring ace from Syracuse, Ganley averaged 24.9 points a game, and his career total of 1,370 points in 55 games from 1969-1972 stood as a Clarkson record for 22 years until Justin Shope compiled a new standard at the conclusion of the 1994-95 campaign.

Ganley's value to Clarkson basketball was immeasurable. During his three years of varsity competition under head coach Bill Abrahamovich, he led the Knights in scoring as a sophomore, junior and senior. He was the leading scorer in every Clarkson victory that he appeared in, and in the 55 totaled games in which he saw action, Ganley was the Knights' leading scored in 48. Although his offensive talents were very much in evidence, Ganley was a true all-around player and led Clarkson in rebounding in each of his three seasons. He ranks as one the Green and Gold's all-time rebounders with 5670 career boards.

A two-year captain and three-time MVP for the Golden Knights, Ganley earned numerous accolades during his distinguished career. He was named an All-American and ECAC All-Start in 1972, gained Independent College Athletic Conference (ICAC) first-team honors in each of his three seasons, and was selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III weekly all-star team four times during his senior campaign. Ganley was named co-recipient of Clarkson's Most Outstanding Senior Athlete in 1972.

The Clarkson University Athletic Hall of Fame was founded in 1992 to honor and perpetuate the memory of those individuals who, either through participation, support or interest has made outstanding contributions to Clarkson athletics. And who have helped to bring recognition, honor and distinction to the University. It is with great pride that Clarkson inducts Pete Ganley into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
