Rules and Regulations

Welcome to the Deneka Fitness Center! The following rules and policies are needed to facilitate an environment in the Fitness Center that is satisfactory to all. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
  • Memberships cannot be shared. Anyone caught using someone's ID card other than their own will be asked to leave the facility. This could warrant suspension or revocation of the membership. Membership fees will not be refunded.
  • All guests and visitors must report to the Fitness Center Front Desk for signing liability forms, approval of facility use, and payment of $5 for the guest fee visit.
  • Membership card must be presented to front desk upon entering.
  • Prior to participation, you must complete a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (Par Q) and/ or receive a doctor's approval in writing if answering yes to any questions.
  • Observe weight room etiquette and demonstrate courtesy towards others in the room at all times.
  • Horseplay, loudness and/ or offensive language is not acceptable.
  • Wear proper attire, particularly shirts and athletic shoes, at all times. Jeans and open-toe sandals are not permitted.
  • No outside footwear (clean and dry sneakers only).
  • Show respect for equipment and facility at all times. Do not drop or throw weights.
  • You may be expelled from the facility immediately if you misuse any equipment or facilities. If you fail to leave when asked, you will be assisted out by security personnel.
  • Keep equipment off floor and return to its proper rack when lifting is completed.
  • The on-duty supervisors have authority over all room conduct and use of equipment. This includes the sound system.
  • Immediately report any facility related injury or facility/ equipment irregularity to the supervisors on duty.
  • Tobacco, food, glass bottles, and cans are not allowed in the training facility; plastic water bottles are acceptable.
  • Alcohol, drugs, and banned substances are not allowed in the training facility.
  • Wipe down equipment with disinfectant solution after each use.
  • Do not spit anywhere in the facility.
  • Break down bars after completing an exercise.
  • Anyone under 16 years of age is not permitted into Fitness Center.
  • Equipment does not leave the Fitness Center for any reason.
  • When borrowing a towel or recreation equipment, your ID must be left with the front desk worker.
  • Remember the student staff is just doing their job. Please be considerate.
  • Lockers: Members may bring a lock in and use an empty locker. We recommend that all valuables are secured at all times. We will give notice twice throughout the year when lockers are emptied and cleaned.
  • Children: Children 13 and under must have parental supervision while in the Stephenson Field House. Children under 16 are not permitted in the Fitness Center.
  • Fitness Classes: Classes are offered to all Fitness Club Members, Faculty, Staff, and Students. Class schedule will be posted each semester.
  • Pool: Open to all Fitness Center Club Members, Faculty, Staff, and Students. Hours are listed above, but vary during the non-academic schedule. Please call Recreation Secretary with any questions @ 268-7931.
  • Stephenson Field House: The field house is reserved for athletic teams at certain times of the year. Please no street shoes, no glass bottles, no spitting on floor, and/ or rollerblading. Please call the Recreation Secretary @ 268-7931 with any questions.
  • Athletic Fields: Not available for recreational use without prior approval. Please do not walk dogs on playing fields.
