Art Quartermain played a key role in perhaps the greatest era in Clarkson
Hockey history, helping to lead the Golden Knights to a phenomenal 60-7 overall record during his three years wearing the Green and Gold from 1954-57. Averaging over a point per game, the smooth skating right wing from Perth, Ontario was an important part of head coach Bill Harrison’s teams which were regarded as among the best in the country in the mid-1950s. Through 67 games, Quartermain tallied 35 goals and 41 assists for 76 points. As a sophomore, in his first year with the Knights' varsity in 1954-55, he scored 34 points, including 18 goals. The following year, Quartermain was a part of Clarkson’s greatest team ever, scoring 12 goals and 12 assists as the Green and Gold skated to a perfect 23-0 record in 1955-56. As a senior in 1956-57, he helped to lead Clarkson to a 19-3 record and its first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
