A large group of supporters were on hand at the Forum in the Student Center, to cheer on senior Alex Benway (Queensbury, NY) as he competed in the Division III NCAA National Championship race on November 19. The event was webstreamed live from Winneconne, WI by host Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Benway was racing against approximately 280 of the top Division III Cross Country runners in the nation after he finished eighth overall in the NCAA Atlantic Regional on November 12. Benway was the first Clarkson Cross Country runner to race in the NCAA National Championships since the divisions were separated into their current format more than 30 years ago. Benway finished 47th in the championship, running the 8-kilometer race (4.97 miles) in 24 minutes, 56.5 seconds, shaving 29 seconds off his best time in an event that lengthy. - photo by Gary Mikel.
