Alf Maki '71 provided Clarkson with an intimidating presence on the ice as a
6-2, 200-pound rugged right wing for head coach Len Ceglarski’s teams in the late 1960s and early 1970s. A native of Sudbury, Ontario, Maki also made a significant contribution offensively, averaging over a point per game during his career with the Green and Gold. Through 93 games, he tallied 94 points on 45 goals and 49 assists.
After posting 22 (11-11) and 28 (11-17) points, respectively through his first two collegiate campaigns, Maki emerged as a dynamic offensive force in his senior season. He scored 23 goals and added 21 assists for 44 points and helped to lead the Golden Knights to 28 wins in 1970-71, the most in the program’s history at the time. During his career at Clarkson, the Knights compiled a 71-19-3 overall record and played in the NCAA Tournament Championship game in 1970, finishing second in the nation.
