Biography

SENIOR YEAR (2022-23): The 2022-23 BILL HARRISON,CLARKSON MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD winner, Mathieu was tabbed as an ECAC Pre Season All Star in 2022.  Gosselin is the recipient of the The Campbell Scholars Hockey Endowment.  Established by former Golden Knight, Robert "Soupy" Campbell '61, the scholarship is awarded specifically to two players from the Province of Quebec annually that meet the academic & athletics values set forth by "Soupy"...Was the teams 2nd leading scorer with 14 goals and 19 assists in 37 games...Led the team with 4 game winning goals...Was tops on the team in face off win percentage (56%) and 15th in the nation for face-offs won...Named an ECAC Third Team All Star...Named ECAC All Academic.

JUNIOR YEAR (2021-22):  His best season as a Golden Knight, Mathieu was the teams 2nd leading scorer and was 2nd in the the ECAC for conference points.  He was named an ECAC 1st Team All Star.  Played in all 37 games, scoring 11 goals and 22 assists.  Was among the leaders in +/- with a +14...Had 8 multi point games, including a 2 goal game vs Yale and 3 assists in the comeback against Cornell....Clarkson was 7-2-1 when Mathieu scored and 6-2-1 when he had a multi point game...Named to ECAC All Academic Team.

SOPHOMORE YEAR (2020-21):  Skated in all 22 games, collecting 6 goals and 6 assists for 12 points...Team high +14 rating...Scored 2 goals and 2 assists in a 6-2 win at Mercyhurst

FRESHMAN YEAR (2019-20):  Led Clarkson rookies in points with 11 on two goals and nine assists ... Recorded a season-high two points with a pair of assists, including on the game-winner, in 3-2 victory at 15th-ranked Quinnipiac (2/14) ... Tallied points in 10 games ... First career goal came in Knights' 5-1 victory at Union (11/8) ... Had a strong finish to his first semester with the Golden Knights with a pair of assists in key weekend series at Michigan Tech (12/13-14), helping Clarkson gain a tie (2-2) and win (4-2) in non-league action on the road ... Was selected ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week (12/16) for his efforts ... Posted a solid a +8 plus/minus, tied for 4th best on the team ... Named to ECAC Hockey All-Academic team.

Get to know Mathieu:  Played the past two seasons in the BCHL for the Merritt Centennials … Was the Centennials' second-leading scorer in 2018-19 with 60 points on 22 goals and 38 assists through 53 games … Skated with Team Canada West this past December at the 2018-19 World Jr. A Challenge, recording three points (1-2) in helping Canada to a Bronze-Medal finish.

PERSONAL:  Son of Dominique and Eric Gosselin… Born on May 18, 1999 … Shoots right … Mathematical Economics major … Attended Seminaire St-Francois, graduating in 2016 … Has an older brother Raphael, who plays hockey at the University of Wisconsin Stout.
