HARVARD SHUTS OUT CLARKSON FOR FIRST TIME THIS SEASON

Cambridge, MA - For the first time this season, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team was held scoreless as Harvard, ranked fourth in the country, defeated the Golden Knights 4-0 in an ECACHL conference game Saturday night.

The Golden Knights dropped to 4-4-3 overall and 2-2 in the ECACHL while Harvard improved to 6-1-1 and 6-1. Clarkson returns to action next weekend when they face off against St. Lawrence in a home-and-home series.

Sarah Vaillancourt scored the first goal for Harvard at the 11:58 mark in the first period and the Crimson added two more goals in the second period from Nicole Corriero, one short-handed and another on the power play. Harvard added a fourth goal in the third period when Ashley Banfield tallied a power play goal at 12:39. Julie Chu picked up three assists in the game for the Crimson.

Kira McDonald (Pickering, ONT) made 39 saves for the Golden Knights. Clarkson was out shot 43-11 and went 0-for-8 on the power play while Harvard went 2-for-6 with the man-advantage. Ali Boe made 11 saves for Harvard to record the shutout.
