CRIMSON SHUT DOWN KNIGHTS, 5-0

Potsdam, NY - With a four-goal outburst in the second period, Harvard defeated the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team 5-0 in ECACHL action Friday night at Cheel Arena.

The Golden Knights fell to 11-14-6 overall and 5-11-1 in the ECACHL, remaining in 8th place in the conference. Harvard, ranked 6th-nationally and first in the conference standings, improved to 18-6-2 and 15-1-1.

After a scoreless opening frame, Havard took advantage of their first power-play opportunity, scoring at the 2:28 mark. Ashley Banfield picked up her seventh goal of the season with Nicole Corriero and Sarah Vaillancourt assisting. The Crimson tallied two quick goals for a 3-0 lead as Corriero scored her 46th goal of the season at the 5:02 mark. Vaillancourt and Julie Chu were awarded assists. At 6:23, Katie Johnston scored her third goal of the year. Jennifer Raimondi and Katherine Sweet assisted.

Late in the second period, Harvard scored their fourth goal of the game when Julie Chu tallied her third point of the game as Banfield and Vaillancourt picked up assists. The Crimson finished off the scoring when Chu picked up her second goal of the game and 10th of the season at the 5:10 mark of the third period. Corriero added her 22nd assist of the season and Vaillancourt picked up her 32nd.

Kira McDonald (Pickering, ONT) and Stephanie Hansen (Calgary, ALB) split time in net for the Golden Knights, recording 27 combined saves. Ali Boe made 13 saves for the shutout for Harvard.
