CLARKSON CLAIMS 4-1 WIN OVER CORNELL

Ithaca, NY - Sophomores Lindsay Williams (Mississauga, ONT) and Emma Madigan (Mississauga, ONT) each scored a goal and picked up an assist as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team won its second straight game with a  4-1 ECACHL win over Cornell Friday night at Lynah Rink.

The Golden Knights improved to 13-14-6 overall and 7-11-1 in the ECACHL while the Big Red fell to 3-21-3 overall and 3-15-1 in conference play. 

Clarkson gained control early in the contest as they produced two goals in the first nine minutes of play. Madigan scored her fourth goal of the season at the 5:35 mark, with assists going to Williams and Carolynn Zidek (Chicago, IL), and senior Kristi Shaw (Belleville, ONT) added her first goal of the season on a scramble in front of the net at 8:27.

Clarkson took a 4-0 advantage with two more goals in the middle period. Freshman Meghan Park (Petrolia, ONT) scored a power-play marker, her third goal of the season, at 0:25 in the second period as classmates Brooke Beazer (Kingston, ONT) and Katie Morrison (Ridgefield, CT) assisted. At the tail end of the period, Williams scored her sixth goal of the season at 18:15. Madigan earned the assist on the Knights' final tally.

Sophomore goaltender Kira McDonald (Pickering, ONT) was one shot short of a shutout, stopping 17 shots to earn the victory for Clarkson. Cornell sophomore goaltenders Beth Baronick and Sarah McConnachie combined for 27 saves on the night. Clarkson out shot the Big Red 31-18.
