KNIGHTS PREVAIL IN FIVE OVER CARDINALS

Potsdam, NY - With 11 kills and five assists, freshman Ashley Delaney (Mayfield, NY) helped guide the Clarkson University Volleyball team to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Plattsburgh State on Tuesday night at Alumni Gymnasium.

Trailing 1-0 and 2-1 in games, the Golden Knights rallied from several deficits in the fourth game to even the match and then picked up a victory in the fifth game, 25-30, 30-11, 27-30, 30-27, 15-8. Clarkson improved to 8-7 on the season while the Cardinals dropped to 4-8. The Golden Knights return to action this weekend when they host Hamilton and Union in a tri-match.

Senior setter Suzanne Clarvoe (Hartwick, NY) had eight kills on just 10 attempts and also added 42 assists and four aces in the win for the Knights. Classmate Stephanie Thornton (Corning, NY) led all Clarkson players with 15 kills and junior Claire Horvath (South Bend, IN) also contributed 11 kills and three aces. Freshman Hilary Lockwood (Victor, NY) added nine kills and 14 digs while sophomore Katie Benson (Ashton, MD) continues to close in on the school-record for digs with 38 more to bring her season total to 331. Junior Katie Kreilach (West Leyden, NY) also came up big for the Knights as a versatile player, earning six kills on 11 attacks and adding five blocks with three solo blocks.
