Ithaca, NY - A pair of goals 1:25 apart late in the third period by sophomores Jessica Cloutier (Parker, C) and Amanda Dittmer (Chatham, ONT) lifted the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Cornell at Lynah Rink in on Friday night.

The Golden Knights recoreded their 20th win of the season with the victory, improving to 20-8-1 overall, while the Big Red fell to 8-15-0. Clarkson continues its four-game road trip on Saturday when it visits Colgate.

After a scoreless first period, Cornell pushed into the lead at 5:48 of the second period with a goal by Molly McDonald. What looked like a significant upset in women's hockey turned into a Golden Knight victory as Cloutier tallied her sixth goal of the season at the 15:40 mark of the third period. Ashley Shaidle (Hudson, OH) and Brooke Beazer (Kingston, ONT) each assisted on the game-tying goal. The game appeared to be headed for overtime when Dittmer picked up her third goal of the season on the power play with less than three minutes remaining in the stanza. Kim McKenney (Smith Falls, ONT) and Micheleen Devine (Medicine Hat, ALB) each earned assists on the game-winning goal for the Knights.

Kira Hurley (Pickering, ONT) made 23 saves to lead the Golden Knights to the win while Cornell goaltender Beth Baronick stopped 47 of the 49 shots peppered by Clarkson. The Golden Knights uncharacteristically took five penalties in the game, but killed three Cornell power plays. Clarkson went 1-for-11 on the power play as Cornell was penalized for 26 minutes of the game on 13 infractions.
