Potdsam, NY - Junior Ashley Shaidle (Hudson, OH) scored twice in the first period as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team picked up its fifth consecutive victory with a 3-0 shutout of Quinnipiac Friday night at Cheel Arena.

The Golden Knights improved to 19-7-1 overall and 10-3-0 in the ECACHL, holding onto a first-place tie in the conference with St. Lawrence and Brown. Quinnipiac dropped to 9-14-4 and 3-10-2. Clarkson returns to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Princeton University, the only team in the ECACHL that the Golden Knights have yet to defeat in their three-year existence as a Division I program.

Shaidle got the Knights on the scoreboard quick at 2:55 in the first period as she scored on a cross-crease pass from Brooke Beazer (Kingston, ONT). Sophie Doyon (Victoriaville, QUE) also earned assists to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead. Shaidle added another goal less than two minutes later. Beazer took a shot, but Shaidle scored her 16th goal of the year on the rebound for a 2-0 advantage at 4:46. Doyon again assisted, her second of the game and seventh of the season. Beazer picked up her 13th assist.

After a scoreless second period, Amanda Dittmer (Chatham, ONT) scored late in the third period with an insurance goal, taking a slap shot from the point that hissed by goaltender Connie Craig just under the crossbar, her second goal of the season. Captain Lindsay Williams (Mississauga, ONT) earned her 10th assist of the season.

Junior goaltender Kira Hurley (Pickering, ONT) stopped 19 shots for her ninth shutout of the season while Craig made 17 saves for the Bobcats. Clarkson narrowly out shot Quinnipiac 20-19 and both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.
