MORRISON SCORES GAME-WINNER TO EVEN QUARTERFINAL SERIES WITH HARVARD

March 4, 2006

Cambridge, NY - Sophomore Katie Morrison (Ridgefield, CT) tallied the game-winner with just 23 seconds left in overtime as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team evened up its ECACHL First Round series with a 2-1 win over Harvard Saturday afternoon before 614 fans at Bright Hockey Center.

The Golden Knights improved to 22-13-1 overall on the season and will face the Crimson in the deciding Game 3 of the quarterfinal series at 4:00 pm on Sunday. Harvard dropped to 15-12-4 on the campaign.

Morrison's tally came at the end of a swiftly played extra session that had the Crimson out shooting the Knights 12-8. Marie-Jo Gaudet (Sherbrooke, QUE) and Amanda Dittmer (Chatham, ONT) each earned assists on the goal.

Clarkson scored the first goal of the game midway through the second period at 10:16 when Micheleen Devine (Medicine Hat, ALB) scored her 12th goal of the season. Ashley Shaidle (Hudson, OH) and Brooke Beazer (Kingston, ONT) picked up assists on the goal.

In the third period, it appeared as if the Knights were going to even the series without any extra time necessary, but the Crimson came through with the game-tying marker at 17:30 in the period as Jenny Brine knotted the game at 1-1 with assists going to Jennifer Raimondi and Jennifer Sifers.

Kira Hurley (Pickering, ONT) stopped 33 shots to earn the victory for Clarkson while Ali Boe also produced 33 saves for Harvard. Clarkson held a slim 35-34 shot advantage in the game.
