Plattsburgh, NY – After a dynamic comeback in game four ended up being for naught, the Clarkson University Volleyball team couldn’t maintain its momentum and dropped the fifth game, falling to Plattsburgh State 3-2 Tuesday night at Memorial Gym.
The Golden Knights fell to 1-14 overall and face Hamilton and Union in a tri-match this weekend in Clinton, NY. The Cardinals improved to 6-8.
Clarkson dropped the first game 30-24, but won the next two 30-27 and 30-24. Trailing by six points on several occasions in the fourth game, Clarkson rallied back from a 23-17 deficit to take a 28-27 lead. However, the Cardinals ended the Clarkson push and ended up taking the fourth game 32-30. Plattsburgh continued its own momentum to win the fifth game 15-7.
Senior Claire Horvath (Sound Bend, IN) led the Golden Knights with 22 kills and 29 digs while sophomore Hilary Lockwood (Victor, NY) added 15 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Jenna Stock (Johnstown, NY) contributed 48 assists and 11 digs along with 3 kills.
