Hamilton, NY - Thanks to a second-period score from sophomore defenseman Carlee Eusepi (Oakville, ONT), the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team earned a 1-1 tie against Colgate on Saturday afternoon, earning an ECAC Hockey playoff berth in the process.
Clarkson moved to 19-6-5 overall and 10-5-3, picking up its 23rd conference point of the season to clinch a playoff spot for the fourth time in its four years of eligibility for the post-season tournament. Colgate helped solidify its playoff chances as well with four league games remaining, improving to 11-12-5 overall and 8-5-4 in the ECAC.
Jacquie Colborne scored the Raiders' lone goal of the contest, putting Colgate up 1-0 in the first period at 13:41 with assists going to Sam Hunt and Kiira Dosdall. Eusepi tallied her fifth score of the season at 4:09 of the second period, just four seconds after the conclusion of a Clarkson power-play opportunity. The team's leading playmaker, Genevieve Lavoie (Delson, QUE) picked up her 23rd assist of the season, and Melissa Waldie (Newmarket, ONT) also earned her 14th assist of the year.
Eve Grandmont-Berube (Drummondville, QUE) stopped 19 shots in 65 minutes for Clarkson and Lisa Plenderleith matched her with 19 saves for the Raiders. Clarkson was 0-for-6 on the power play and Colgate went 0-for-3 while skating up a player.
