Knights' Win Streak Comes to an End at Cornell

A lengthy winning streak for the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team came to end on Friday night as the Golden Knights suffered only their second loss of the season as Cornell shutout the Green and Gold 2-0 in Ithaca, NY.

Second-ranked Clarkson, which saw its win streak snapped at seven straight, will look to get back on the winning track when it faces off at Colgate in a 4:00 p.m. game on Saturday in Hamilton, NY. The Knights, who suffered their first whitewash since October 4, 2008, stand at 11-2-1 overall and 5-1-0 in ECAC Hockey.

After two scoreless periods of play at Lynah Rink, the seventh-ranked Big Red of Cornell scored twice in the third period to gain their fifth straight victory. Kendice Ogilvie tallied the game’s first goal at the 4:00 mark of the final stanza. Catherine White added an insurance marker for Cornell (5-2-0, 5-0-0) at 14:28.

The Knights outshot the Big Red 33-25, but Amanda Mazzotta made 12 saves in the first, 10 stops in the second and 11 more in the third to post the shutout for Cornell. Junior Lauren Dahm (Baldwinsville, NY) made 23 saves in the Clarkson goal.
