Riding a nine-game unbeaten streak, which is tied for the fourth longest active streak in the nation, the fifth-ranked Clarkson University Women's Hockey team will try to extend the run when the Golden Knights welcome Rensselaer and Union to Cheel Arena this weekend. The Knights face off against RPI at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and then take on Union in a 4:00 p.m. game on Saturday.

Led by eighth-year head coach Matt Derosiers and second-year assistant coaches Britni Smith and Meghan Duggan, Clarkson has stormed up the conference standings since the calendar turned to 2016, winning six and tying two games in January. The Golden Knights are now 21-3-4 overall and 9-3-4 in ECAC Hockey, placing them in second place in the conference.

• Leading the way for Clarkson last weekend was senior assistant captains Olivia Howe and Erin Ambrose. Howe had a goal and three assists in a 6-1 win at St. Lawrence last Thursday while Ambrose had a trio of assists as well. Howe was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week for her performance. She now has 95 career points and is closing in on becoming the 11th Clarkson player to reach the century mark. Howe is also tied for third in points in conference points and conference assists. Ambrose is also tied for third in conference assists and is tied for second among defensemen with 14 points against conference opponents.
•On Saturday, Clarkson's two goals in a 2-2 tie with St. Lawrence came from a surprising source. Sophomore Amanda Titus came into the game with only two goals on the season, but she doubled that total by knocking in a pair of scores against the Saints. Titus now has four points in her last four games and 11 points this season.
•Sophomore goaltender Shea Tiley had another strong weekend for Clarkson. She is fourth in the country in goals against average, allowing just 1.36 goals per game. She is also second in the conference in the same category, allowing 1.46 goals per conference game. Tiley has seven shutouts this year, the fourth highest total in the country and her .808 winning percentage is the seventh best mark. Overall, Tiley has a 43-14-7 career record. She needs just five more victories to become the second winningest goaltender in Clarkson history. Her career mark of 1.38 goals against is the best rate of any Clarkson goaltender to play at least 10 games. Tiley is also just the fourth Clarkson goaltender to make 1000 career saves.
•The Golden Knights have struggled on special teams in the past few games. The Green and Gold have not scored a power play goal in the last six games, while allowing opponents to score on extra man opportunities in the last three games. Overall, Clarkson has converted just 15.5% of its power-plays, the 22nd best percentage in the country. Despite its recent struggles, Clarkson still does have a strong penalty kill this season, killing 88.8% of opponents' extra man opportunities, the eighth best rate in the nation.
•Rensselaer comes into the weekend clinging to the eighth and final ECAC Hockey playoff spot. The Engineers are 9-13-4 overall and 7-7-2 in conference, two points ahead of ninth place Cornell and one point behind sixth place St. Lawrence and Yale. Offensively, Katie Rooney is second on the team with 17 points, but leads the team with 12 points in conference. She is also first on the team with three game winning goals. Clarkson leads the all-time series between the two teams 16-5-2, but the Golden Knights' 12 game winning streak against the Engineers was broken earlier this year when Rensselaer came away with a 2-1 home win.
•Union has struggled this season, with a 0-22-26 overall record and a 0-13-3 conference mark. The Dutchwomen have just three conference points which is the lowest total. Just one Union player has double digit points this season, Kathryn Tomaselli, who has 10 points on seven goals and three assists. Union is near the bottom of the conference in every statistical category. The Dutchwomen average just 0.75 goals per game. Clarkson has an all-time record of 24-1 against Union, including eight wins in a row. The two teams met earlier this season and Clarkson earned a 6-0 win.
