Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Clarkson wins at Colgate, 3-2

Giguere gets game winning goal

The Knights got 2 first period goals from Brooke McQuigge and Miranda Gaudet.  McGuigge struck first on the power play at 12:38 with an assist to Gabrielle David.  The Knights took a 2-0 lead when Gaudet scored her first goal as a Golden Knight at the 17:20 mark, with an assist to Florence Lessard, her first collegiate point.  Colgate struck back 1:15 later when Nemo Neubauerova scored on a broken play off the rush.  Coulombe made 13 saves in the first as Colgate out shot the Knights 14-7 in the first period.

In the second period, the Knights went up 3-1 as Sr. Captain, Elizabeth Giguère got her first of the season on a 4 on 4 situation at the 6:12 mark.  Her first goal of the season gets her closer to becoming Clarkson's All Time Leader in points.  She currently holds the all time mark for assists in a career with 120.   The Clarkson penalty kill came up big as the Knights killed off a 5-3 advantage when Lessard was off for a hold and David went in for roughing mid way through the 2nd.  The Raiders pulled within a goal late in the period, when Neubauerova got her 2nd of the game on the power play. Colgate again out shot the Knights 14-7 in the second period.

The third period did not see any goals but was not without action.  Colgate had 2 power plays and generated good in zone pressure, but the Clarkson skaters blocked 22 shots, some of the most critical late in the 3rd.  Coulombe held strong with 10 saves in the final period and a game total of 36 in her first win of the season.  The Clarkson Penalty Kill proved to be the difference holding Colgate to 1 for 7 on the man advantage.

The Knights will travel back to Colgate again on Thursday for a 5:00 pm matchup.  That game can also be heard on B99.3 and streamed on ESPN+.
