Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Knights gain a tie on late goal

Extra attacker power play goal with 11 sec ties game

In a fitting end to this four game series, the two teams battled to a 2-2 draw on Saturday night at Cheel Arena.  This series has been close, 2 goal differential after 4 games, and after 65 minutes, it is clear that these two teams will be in the hunt as the league and NCAA post season is being sorted out.

Colgate grabbed the lead 6:03 into the first, as Kaitlyn O'Donohoe scored unassisted.   The Knights answered back in the 2nd period when Caitrin Lonergan got her first as a Golden Knight at 13:57.  Elizabeth Giguere got the assist, which moved her into a tie for the all time points lead at Clarkson.

The game remained tied into the 3rd when Colgate took the lead at 6:02.  The Knights drew a penalty late, when Kaltounkova went off for Interference late in the 3rd.  With the power play and extra attacker on, Clarkson got the equalizer on a point shot by freshman Nicole Gosling, her first goal as a Golden Knight.

Under the new Overtime format, 3 on 3 was how the period started until Neubauerova went off for a trip, and the Knights were able to add the 4th attacker.  The Knights had good chances in the OT, but Colgate held on for the 2-2 tie.

MP Coulombe was strong in nets for Clarkson with 17 saves.  The Knights once again excelled on the Penalty Kill, holding Colgate to 0 for 7 on the power play.

Knights will head home for the holidays and return after Christmas to begin prep for the ECAC Schedule which will be released this Tuesday.
