Knights Edge Bard 1-0 on Senior Day

Potsdam, NY – Spending much of the game on the attack, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team converted in the 53rd minute to come away with a 1-0 Liberty League win over Bard College on Saturday afternoon at Hantz Field.

The Golden Knights improved to 4-6-2 overall and 2-3-2 in league games, while Bard saw its mark fall to 1-9-0 and 0-6-0. It was Clarkson's final home game of the 2021 season, though the Knights have four games remaining on the schedule, starting with a non-league contest on Tuesday evening at Plattsburgh State.

Clarkson opened the game on an offensive rush, gaining four corner kick chances in the first five minutes, but those opportunities resulted in just one shot on goal. The Knights continued to push Bard's defense with numerous shots from the perimeter, though most did not challenge the Bard goalkeeper, sailing high or wide.

Late in the first half the game was halted due to lightning, but after a 50-minute delay play resumed and Clarkson was able to get on the scoreboard. The Knights had two corner kick chances in the early going of the second period, but it was a throw-in that would spark Clarkson's offense as Chloe Hodge tossed a ball near the top of the penalty box to Sarah Kohls. From there the junior took a shot that went to the far post and just snuck inside the post at 52:14 to put the Knights up 1-0.

Bard had only one more shot for the final 37 minutes as Clarkson maintained possession for much of the half, including six more shots and another corner kick over the final 20 minutes.

The Golden Knights finished with a 24-3 edge in shots and a 9-1 lead in shots on goal. The Green and Gold also had 12 corner kick chances to Bard's none. Molly DiCaprio was called upon to make one save for the Knights while Bard's Madeline Chilton made eight stops.
