Ithaca, NY – Two goals in the second half by the home team sunk the hopes of the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team, as the Golden Knights dropped a 3-1 decision to Ithaca College in Liberty League action Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights moved to 2-4-0 on the season and 0-1-0 in conference play and Ithaca improved to 6-1-0 and 1-0-0. Clarkson will be at home twice next week, hosting Skidmore College on Tuesday afternoon and then taking on RIT on Saturday afternoon.

The Bombers struck first at the end of the 17th minute, as Kate Kohler headed in a cross off a corner kick from Rebecca Jackson, but Clarkson was able to tie the game just three minutes later. Angelina Fahrenkrug scored her team-leading third goal of the season, lobbing in a shot over the Ithaca goalkeeper's head at 20:15.

The two teams remained tied for the rest of the first half, but Ithaca quickly scored what would prove to be the game-winner in the first few minutes of the second half. Megan Buttinger chipped in a shot at 48:36 to help the Bombers edge back in front 2-1. Twenty-four minutes later, Brenna Lorenzen provided an insurance goal off a cross from Katy Krueger.

Ithaca held significant advantages in shots (28-9) and corner kick opportunities (11-2). Despite allowing three goals, Molly DiCaprio posted an .800 save percentage on the day, making 12 saves overall. Claire Reader stopped six shots for Ithaca.
