Knights Stay Unbeaten After 14-9 Win Over Albright

Clearwater, FL – With two early goals and then two more in the fourth, Sydney Roderick tallied four scores, all on free position shots, to help lead the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team to a 14-9 victory over Albright College on Wednesday morning.

The Golden Knights remained unbeaten at 4-0 while Albright fell to 1-5 on the season. The Green and Gold open Liberty League play this weekend at RIT.

The Lions had trouble staying in front of the Knights all day, allowing Clarkson 19 free position shots which resulted in 10 goals for the Green and Gold.

Albright opened the scoring just two minutes into the contest, but Clarkson was able to quickly tie the game gain a lead which it would never relinquish. Roderick scored at the 11:10 mark and then again at 8:08 to put Clarkson up 2-1. Sofie Mangino and Julia Lavarnway scored in the final six minutes to put the Knights up by three through the opening quarter.

The second period saw the Lions rally back, and a goal in the waning moments allowed Albright to get within two at the break, 6-4. Another score at the start of the third closed the gap to just one, but the Knights went on a 4-2 run to close out the quarter for a 10-7 advantage. Roderick then took over again, scoring twice on free position shots in the first 80 seconds of the fourth and extending the margin to five goals. Two more FPS goals from Mia Petrone and Chrissy Benedict provided plenty of cushion down the stretch.

Sydney Roderick scored four times while Mia Petrone added three goals and three draw controls. Madelynn Barnum scored twice and notched four draws, while Chrissy Benedict also chipped in two goals.
