Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Knights Offense Comes Up Huge in 8-0 Win Over New England College

Henniker, NH – For the second straight day, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team's offense was humming along, producing its most goals in a game since 2016 in an 8-0 win over New England College on Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 4-0-1 on the year while the Pilgrims fell to 0-4-1. Clarkson will take on SUNY Canton on Wednesday evening before receiving a solid break from game action.

Clarkson took little time getting on the scoreboard, tallying early in the 10th minute. Chloe Hodge started the play at the far side on the flag with a corner kick. The ball sailed across the penalty area to the top of the six where the pass found the head of Lillian Gillett, who knocked the ball to the right post for a 1-0 Clarkson lead at 9:16.

Clarkson later scored a pair of goals less than 30 seconds apart, both coming on quick transitions. The first goal came as goalkeeper Molly DiCaprio found Delaney Holohan on the left side, and she brought the ball up the field, locating Emily Davis about 30 yards away from goal. After a few touches, Davis sent a pass through the defense to Sarah Kohls, who went to the right post at 27:25 to put the Knights up 2-0. Just 26 seconds later, the ball was near the top of the Clarkson penalty area and played forward to Angelina Fahrenkrug near midfield, where she chipped the ball up and over the defense to Kohls, who was racing down the field. She then beat the NEC goalkeeper, putting the ball off the left post t 27:51.

The second half saw Clarkson score twice in the first seven minutes. Chloe Hodge went up the right side and scored into the left corner at 47:29 and then assisted with a short cross to Rylee Marin at 51:17. Maddie Lopol scored in the 63rd minute with an unassisted marker, and the Knights tacked on two more in the final four minutes with goals from Emily Colby and Lillian Gillett.

The Knights outshot New England College 48-3, including 30 shots in the second half. Molly DiCaprio was called up to make just one save for the shutout, while Hollie Bomba made 14 stops among the 22 shots on goal from Clarkson.
