Knights set to open season vs Merrimack

The Clarkson Golden Knights Women's Hockey team will open their home hockey schedule on Saturday at 2:00pm vs Merrimack College.  This will be the first time the Knights and Warriors have faced each other.  Clarkson is entering the season on back to back NCAA appearances and returns 8 of their top 10 scorers.

The 2023-24 Golden Knights announced their leadership group.  Brooke McQuigge will wear the "C" again this season. Anne Cherkowski, Nicole Gosling, Dominique Petrie, and Haley Winn have been named Alternate Captains.

Anne Cherkowski is the top returning scorer for the Knights, with 52 points last year.  The Knights return 8 of their top 10 scorers from last year and will welcome the return of Dominique Petrie and Laurence Frenette who are back from a year off due to injury and should give the Knights great scoring depth.

ECAC Pre-Season First Team Selection, Haley Winn and 2023 ECAC Third Team All Star, Nicole Gosling will be leading the way from the point along with Boston College Graduate Transfer, Alexie Guay.

The goaltender position will return all 4 from last year.  Michelle Pasiechnyk is the leading returner, she had a 49-23-4 career record with a .930 save percentage and 1.68 goals against average.

Clarkson will open with 4 straight home games against Hockey East's Merrimack and Boston College.  Then the Knights will head to Vermont and Robert Morris.  The Colonials, are back after the school dropped hockey, but decided to revive the sport.  Clarkson and Syracuse will keep the rivalry going with games in Nov.  Another exciting non league game will be on Wed. Nov. 8th, when the Knights will host St. Lawrence for a 11:00 am game.  This game will draw from over 8 local school districts and is expected to break the attendance record at Cheel for a women's hockey game, with close to 2700 students and teachers from grades 3 thru 8 already confirmed.

Clarkson will be honoring the 2014 NCAA National Championship Team on Saturday, Oct. 27th, the Knights will host Princeton for a 3 pm game.  The team will be honored after the game, celebrating the 10th season since capturing Clarkson's first ever national title in any sport.
