Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Knights shut out Merrimack for 2nd time on the weekend

A point of emphasis this season for the coaches was to be consistent with their efforts for 60 minutes, and this weekend's series with Merrimack showed a consistent defensive effort that shut out the Warriors for 120 minutes.

Sophomore goaltender, Julia Minotti, made 14 saves for her first career shutout and helped cap off a weekend in which the Golden Knights did not allow a goal.

Like yesterday, the Knights popped two goals in the first frame.  Keira Hurry scored her first as a Golden Knight at 2:37 on the power play.  Dominique Petrie was able to keep the puck in at the blue line and Sena Catterall got the puck deep, where Hurry was able to pull the puck off the wall and sneak a shot past Hogarth.

Another first year player, Rebecca Morissette, got her first goal, when she scored at 10:31 to put the Knights up 2-0.  Morissette was able to re-direct a Petrie shot in tight to the goal.

In the 2nd period, Haley Winn found the back of the net at the 7:00 minute to make it 3-0.  Winn rolled out from below the goal line and ended up shooting from the tops of the circles opposite of the side she exited.

Also like yesterday, the third period went scoreless, preserving the 2nd straight shut out for Clarkson.

Dom Pertrie finished with a team high 3 points with her 3 assists.  Nicole Gosling also added an assist for the Knights.

Clarkson scored once on the 6 power play opportunities and help Merrimack to 0 for 7.

Up next, Clarkson will host the Eagles of Boston College next weekend at Cheel Arena.  Friday will be a 6pm face off and Saturday will be a 3pm start.  After Saturday's game will be the annual "Skate with a Knight"
