The Clarkson Women's Hockey Team faced their toughest test of the season, but battled through some early adversity to finish off a weekend sweep of Boston College, with a 4-2 win.Â
Â
The scoreless against streak ended early in the game when a turn over at the offensive blue line, just :30 gave Boston College the first goal of the game by Julia Pellerin, assisted by Gaby Roy and Sammy Smigliani.  Pellerin was able to get the breakaway when the pick was deflected into the neutral zone and tucked it under the leg of
Michelle Pasiechnyk.
Â
The Knights started to put pressure on the Eagles, bout would face their first big test of adversity when
Brooke McQuigge received a major penalty for slew-footing at 07:42 and a game misconduct at the same time. This resulted in a 5-minute power play for BC and the loss of one their top forwards.
Â
The momentum started to build as the Knights continued to kill off the extended power play, then with 1 second left on the major, BC's Gaby Roy received a minor penalty for tripping at 12:40. On the ensuing power play for the Knights,
Alexie Guay would get her first of the season and first as a Golden Knight, with assists by
Nicole Gosling and
Haley Winn. The two teams went into the first intermission tied 1-1.
Â
Clarkson took control of the game in the middle frame when
Jenna Goodwin scored at 8:03, assisted by
Rebecca Morissette. Clarkson extended the lead off a faceoff win in the offensive zone and
Keira Hurry shot got through traffic at 8:58,
Bridget Stevenson earned the assist with the faceoff win.Â
Â
Early in the 3rd period
Anne Cherkowski scored at 3:40, assisted by
Darcie Lappan and
Dominique Petrie, which put the Knights up 4-1. A Boston College goal by Abby Newhook at 15:19 would make the game closer down the stretch but a penalty late by BC took away much chance to get an extra attacker on and Clarkson was able to play out the rest of the game in the BC zone.
Â
Â
Clarkson will travel to Burlington, VT to face the Catamounts of UVM next weekend.
