Senior Day Success For The Golden Knights
Clarkson closed out their 29th win of the season and their second shutout win this weekend with a 3-0 victory over Harvard in the final game of the ECAC regular season.
Â
The ECAC standings are finalized, and many of the seeds relied on results from the last day. Colgate will earn the top seed thanks to a 5-0 win over Brown, giving Clarkson the second spot 0.5 points back. St. Lawrence holds the three seed, and Cornell rounds out the top four teams who will have a bye into the quarterfinal of the playoffs. The ECAC playoff starts next week with a one-game matchup between the 5-12 seeds, with the winners advancing to the quarterfinal.

Â
Anne Cherkowski got the scoring started after
Brooke McQuigge shot the puck to the netfront where
Rhea Hicks freed up the loose puck for Cherkowski to bat in. Hicks' assist marks her first point as a Golden Knight. Hicks' linemates continued the scoring as
Shelby Laidlaw found a stretch pass from Guay and set up
Bridget Stevenson for her second career goal.Â
Â
The Golden Knights received three power plays during the second period. Despite outshooting the opposition 6-0 over their time on attack, they did not extend the lead. Clarkson's penalty kill stayed perfect on the weekend, stopping both Harvard power plays during the second period, and killing another in the third.
Â
Dominique Petrie closed the scoring in the third period with her second point of the weekend, giving the Golden Knights a 3-0 lead against her former team with 11:35 remaining in regulation.
Michelle Pasiechnyk closed out the third with five saves, stopping 16 during the game for her nation-leading eighth shutout this season.
Â
The Knights will have a weekend off, before returning to action in the ECAC quarterfinals. They will host a best-of-three series against the 2nd lowest remaining seed after the opening round. Clarkson finishes the regular season 28-3-2, 18-3-1 in conference play. The ECAC quarterfinal will begin with the first game of the series on Friday, March 1. Stream the playoffs on ESPN+.
