Knights Suffer 6-1 Defeat at Colgate

Skating on a 5-on-3 power play early in the game, the Clarkson University Hockey team had an excellent opportunity to take the opening lead against Colgate, but the Golden Knights could not covert, despite some first-rate chances, and things went down hill from there as the Raiders handed the Green and Gold a 6-1 loss at Starr Rink in Hamilton, NY on Friday.

Clarkson, which lost its fifth straight game, falls to 5-17-3 overall and to 1-10-2 in ECAC Hockey. The Knights play at national powerhouse Cornell on Saturday with a 7:00 p.m. game at Lynah rink in Ithaca.

The home team went up 3-0 with Day’s second goal of the night, a power-play marker at 2:49 of the middle frame. The Raiders put the game away midway through the second with two more goals 42 seconds apart with Francois Brisbois (11:00) and Sean Carty (11:42) finding the back of the net.

Clarkson assistant captain Brandon DeFazio (Oakville, ONT) prevented the shutout with a power-play marker at 9:08 of the third for his eighth goal of the season. Sophomores Louke Oakley (Whitby, ONT) and Mark Borowiecki (Kanata, ONT) assisted.
