Clarkson Hockey Adds Another to Recruiting Class

The Clarkson University Hockey team increased its incoming class of recruits to nine with the addition of Jarrett Burton to the Golden Knights Class of 2014. A 6-0, 170-pound forward from Echo Bay, ONT, Burton played for the Kingston Voyageurs in the OJHL the past two years.

“Jarrett is a solid player at both ends of the ice and is strong on face-offs,’ stated Clarkson head coach George Roll. “He was an integral part of Kingston’s success the past two years, and should provide key elements to our lineup.  Jarrett is a quality individual who should enjoy a fine career at Clarkson.”

Burton skated in 55 games this past winter, recording 66 points as Kingston’s second-leading scorer with 20 goals and 46 assists. He tallied six power-play goals, two shorthanded markers and netted seven game-winners. An assistant captain, he also recorded 17 points (8-9) through 17 playoff games. During the 2008-09 campaign, he registered 45 points on 25 goals and 20 assists. Burton (12/30/90) was a teammate of current Golden Knight goaltender Cody Rosen on the Voyageurs squad which won the 2009 OJHL Championship.

Burton joins fellow freshmen Alex Boak, Will Frederick, Chase Fuchs, Mike Garlasco, Allan McPherson, David Pratt, Ben Sexton and Matt Zarbo at Clarkson this fall. Class of 2014 profiles.

The Knights officially open their 89th season of play at the Mutual of Omaha Stampede at Nebraska-Omaha on October 8.
