Karpowich started and played all 22 ECAC Hockey games for the Golden Knights and was the main reason Clarkson was in contention for a first-round bye. Karpowich made the most saves in league play with 638 and recorded eight league games with 30-or-more saves, including two conference outings with 40-or-more stops.

He posted two ECAC Hockey shutouts and was tied for third in the nation in shutouts overall with five. Karpowich was honored as ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Month for October and twice selected as ECAC Goaltender of the Week (10/18, 2/20).

Karpowich finished with a .918 save percentage and a 2.56 goals against average en route to a 9-9-4 record in league play. Clarkson’s all-time career save leader, Karpowich posted 3,735 stops through 130 career games, including a school record for saves in a season with 1,092 this past winter.

The league honored the former Cornell goaltending great beginning in the 2001-02 season, by tagging his name with the annual Goaltender of the Year Award. Troy Grosenick of Union and Andy Iles of Cornell have also been selected as finalists for the honor this year by the league’s coaches.
