Knights Earn ECAC Hockey Honors

A pair of standouts on the Clarkson University Hockey team earned two of three weekly awards presented by ECAC Hockey as junior Jeff DiNallo and freshman Kelly Summers were named the league's Player and Rookie of the Week, repsectively.

DiNallo recorded five points in the Golden Knights' weekend split at Cheel Arena, including a career-high two goals and two assists in the 5-2 win over Rensselaer Saturday. The Aurora, ONT native also registered an assist the night before on Clarkson's lone goal against Union. DiNallo finished the weekend with a plus-2 rating. He now leads the Knights in scoring with 18 points on five goals and 13 assists.

Summers recorded four points from the blueline, including a career-high three points (1-2) in Clarkson's victory over Rensselaer. He tallied his fifth goal of the season just five seconds into a first-period power play for the game-winner against the Engineers. In Friday's contest versus Union, the Golden Lake, ONT native netted the Knights' lone goal at the 17:16 mark of the third period.

Clarkson is in a four-way tie for third place in the conference standings. The Knights own an 8-6-2 ECAC Hockey record and are six points out of second place, but also just four points out of falling to ninth.  At 11-13-4 overall, Clarkson plays four of the last six games on the road.

The Knights play two teams at opposite ends of the league standings this weekend in their longest road trip of the year. Clarkson faces off against 12th-place Princeton on Friday at Hobey Baker Rink in New Jersey and then battles ECAC Hockey leader Quinnipiac on Saturday at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, CT. Both games are 7:00 p.m. starts.
