A seven-game road swing comes to a close for the Clarkson University Hockey team this weekend with historically its toughest road trip in ECAC Hockey. The Golden Knights, guided by sixth-year head coach Casey Jones and assistants Phil Roy '00 and Josh Hauge, make the short jaunt down to Central NY to take on Cornell and Colgate. The Knights face off against the Big Red at Lynah Rink in Ithaca on Friday and then make their first appearance on the ice at Colgate's new Class of 1965 Arena in Hamilton on Saturday. Both games are 7:00 p.m. starts.

Clarkson returned to ECAC Hockey action this past weekend with a split in New England. The Green and Gold played well and deserved a better fate on Friday in New Haven, CT, but could not finish off their scoring chances in a 2-1 loss at Yale. On Saturday, the Knights made sure to capitalize on their opportunities and skated away with their highest goal total in over four years with a 7-2 victory over Brown in Providence, RI.
With 11 games remaining in the regular season Clarkson posts an 11-9-3 overall record and is tied for fifth in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 6-4-1 league mark.

• The Knights have struggled on the trip to Central NY, managing just three points (3-3 tie at Colgate on December 6, 2008, a 0-0 draw at Cornell on December 3, 2011 and a 2-2 tie against the Raiders on November 15, 2014) in the previous eight regular seasons. Clarkson gained three points on the trip in 2007-08 with a 1-1 tie against Colgate and a 4-2 victory over the Big Red. The last time, the Green and Gold swept the weekend road series at Colgate and Cornell was during the 1996-97 campaign on February 28 (3-1 over the Big Red) and March 1 (7-3 over the Raiders).
• Cornell is the Knights' oldest current rival having first played during the 1922-23 campaign with the teams battling to a 0-0 tie in Ithaca. The Big Red lead the rivalry against the Knights 64-53-14. Cornell holds a 6-4 advantage in the last 10 meetings, but the Green and Gold won the last one, 2-1 in overtime at Cheel Arena last January 29 to snap a four-game losing skid in the series.
• Clarkson leads the Raiders in their all-time series, which began during the 1927-28 campaign, 82-51-17.  Colgate is 6-2-2 in the last 10 meetings of the rivalry with the last nine of those games being decided by one goal-or-less, including three overtime contests.
•  After this weekend the Knights have five home games and four road contests left on the schedule. Clarkson is 4-6-1 at Cheel Arena and 6-3-1 on opponent's home ice.
• The Knights, who last played in Potsdam on December 3, falling to Top-10 ranked Harvard 7-3, return to Cheel Arena for their next home game on January 27, hosting 9th-ranked Union.
• Clarkson's seven goals on Saturday at Brown were its most in a single game since skating to a 7-2 victory over Princeton by the same score on November 17, 2012. The previous Saturday in Lake Placid, the Green and Gold posted, at the time, their most goals this season in the 6-1 non-league victory over Rensselaer.
• Junior Sam Vigneault has seven points in his last three games and leads Clarkson in points with 21, including a team-high 13 assists. Vigneault is on a current four-game points streak (3-5).
• Senior Troy Josephs, leads Clarkson with ten goals through 21 games this season. He had ten goals in 97 games during his first three years.  Josephs recorded his third career two-goal outing in the win over Brown. The Pittsburgh Penguins draft choice has 14 points (9-5) in his last 13 games, and 17 points (10-7) overall.
• Nico Sturm became the third Clarkson freshman this season to score twice in one game with his fourth and fifth goals of the season on Saturday at Brown. Sturm has 15 points skating in all 23 games during his rookie campaign.
• Freshman Haralds Egle has continued his strong play in the New Year, following up a two-goal effort in the win over Rensselaer in Lake Placid (1/7) with two assist on Saturday.  Through 19 games the Latvia native has tallied five goals and four assists.
• Senior Perry D'Arrisso enjoyed his first career multiple-point game with a goal and an assist in Saturday's win over the Bears.
• Freshman Sheldon Rempal recorded his first point in seven games with the game-winner at Brown.
• Senior defenseman, captain James de Haas has been selected as one of 15 top NCAA men's ice hockey student-athletes who excels both on and off the ice, and is a candidate for the 2016-17 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate hockey. The Detroit Red Wings draft choice leads the Green and Gold in scoring from the blueline with 12 points on four goals and eight assists.
• Junior defenseman Kelly Summers has an assist in each of the last three games. He rounds out Clarkson's double digit scorers with 11 points, including 10 assists.

• Senior Jordan Boucher is Clarkson's second leading scorer with seven goals and 12 assists. Boucher leads all current Knights in career scoring with 61 points (24-37) through 100 games.
• After missing the first nine games of the season nursing an injury, defenseman Terrance Amorosa has made a big impact on the Knights' blueline as the Green and Gold have gone 8-4-2 with the junior back in the lineup. He has tallied two power-play goals and six assists through 14 games and post a a +4.  The Philadelphia Flyers draft choice recorded his second two-assist game of the season with a pair of helpers in Saturday's  win.

• Freshmen, forward Devin Brosseau and defenseman Greg Moro share the team lead in plus/minus at +8.

Scouting Cornell:
The hottest team in ECAC Hockey, Cornell opens a four-game home stand at Lynah Rink starting with Friday's game against the Knights. Guided by 22nd-year head coach Mike Schafer, the Big Red are 9-1 in their past 10 games, including five straight in the conference. Cornell swept on the road this past weekend, winning 5-1 at Princeton and 2-1 over 15th-ranked Quinnipiac. Overall, Cornell, ranked 14/15 in the national polls, stands at 11-4-1 and is tied with Clarkson for fifth place in the ECAC Hockey standings with a 6-2-1 league slate. Cornell, however, along with travel partner Colgate, has played the fewest league games at nine. The Big Red have played just four games at home, sporting a 3-1 record at Lynah.

Scouting Colgate:
Colgate, guided by 24th-year head coach Don Vaughan, will be out to snap a four-game winless drought when it opens a four-game home stand on Friday against St. Lawrence prior to Saturday's game against the Green and Gold. The Raiders, who broke a three-game losing skid with a 2-2 tie at Princeton on Saturday, have just one win (3-2 at Arizona State) in their nine outings. Colgate owns a 4-12-5 overall record and a 10th-place 2-5-2 ECAC Hockey mark. The Raiders are 2-3-3 in their first season in the brand new Class of 1965 Arena.

Cornell holds a 6-4 advantage in the last 10 meetings, but the Green and Gold won the last one, 2-1 in overtime at Cheel Arena last January 29 to snap a four-game losing skid in the series. Cornell won the first meeting last year, defeating Clarkson 5-2 on December 5, 2015 for its third straight victory over the Knights at Lynah Rink.

James de Haas has a team-high two goals against the Big Red and Jordan Boucher is the Knights' leading playmaker against Cornell with three assists. Both have a team-high four points in the series.
