A return to Cheel Arena for its first game home game in 54 days did not turn out well for the Clarkson University Hockey team as the Golden Knights lost to fifth-ranked Union 6-2.

The Golden Knights, who have lost two straight, fall to 11-11-4 overall and to 6-6-2 in ECAC Hockey. The Knights host rival Rensselaer on Saturday.

Clarkson started out strong against Union (18-5-2, 11-1-1) and took the initial lead. The Dutchmen, however, went on a six-goal run to earn their seventh straight league win.

Clarkson outshot the Dutchmen 29-24 and went 2-of-9 on the power play. Union was 2-of-6 with the man-advantage.

Freshman Haralds Egle (Liepaja, Latvia) continued his recent hot streak with the game's first goal, a power-play tally at 15:54. Egle picked up a rebound off a shot by junior Sam Vigneault (Baie-Comeau, QUE) at the bottom of the right circle and lifted in his sixth goal of the season and sixth point (3-3) over his last five games. Freshman Sheldon Rempal (Calgary, ALB) also assisted.

Union did not give the Green and Gold faithful much time to celebrate as the Dutchmen tied the game just 12 seconds later with a goal by Sebastian Vidmar.

The Dutchmen blew the game open in the middle frame with a four-goal outburst. Mark Dufour started things off for the visitors with his first goal of the season at 5:43. Cole Maier followed at 8:27 and Dufour scored again at 14:47. With 29 seconds remaining in the period Union went on top 5-1 as Jeff Taylor connected while skating on a 5-on-3 power play.

The Dutchmen tallied again on the man-advantage with Mike Vecchione's team-high 19th goal at 2:54 of the third period.

Clarkson closed out the scoring with its ninth power-play marker in the past six games as freshman Devin Brosseau (St. Lambert, QUE) found the back of the net for his sixth goal of the season. Rempal and junior defenseman Terrance Amorosa (Kirkland, QUE) assisted.

Freshman Jake Kielly (Eden Prairie, MN) made 14 saves through 40 minutes. Senior Steve Perry (Ligonier, PA) made four saves on five shots in the third period.
