CU Volleyball Preview - at Wittenberg Fall Classic (9/15-16)

After a relatively calm weekend at home that ended in three sweeps, the Clarkson University Volleyball team is back on the road with its biggest challenge of the season as the Golden Knights will take on four Midwest regional powers, including a pair of teams ranked in the top 10 in the latest AVCA Poll.

The Golden Knights will face Heidelberg and third-ranked Wittenberg on Friday, and on Saturday the Green and Gold will face Ohio Northern and ninth-ranked Millikin.

The Series vs. Heidelberg: Clarkson and Heidelberg have split their two all-time meetings, with the Knights winning a three-set match in 2013 and the Student Princes won in four sets in 2016.

The Series vs. Wittenberg: The Golden Knights lost their only match against the Tigers back in 2015 during the NCAA Quarterfinals, losing in three straight.

The Series vs. Ohio Northern: The two teams have never met.

The Series vs. Millikin: The two teams have never met.

Key Stats for Clarkson: Senior Rachael Aird became the 11th player in program history to record 1000 career kills last weekend. Sophomore Kate Isaksen currently ranks first in the country in digs per set (7.54) while classmate Rachel Reusch is 39th in hitting percentage (.373). As a team the Knights rank 15th nationally in digs per set.

Key Stats for Heidelberg: Senior Rachel Raimondo is among the national leaders in digs per set (6.13) and the team averages 19.26 per set, which is 27th in the nation.

Key Stats for Wittenberg: The Tigers rank in the top 40 in both blocks per set (20th, 2.32 bps) and digs per set (39th, 18.73 dps).

Key Stats for Ohio Northern: The Polar Bears rank in the top 15 in kills per set (13.61), blocks per set (2.38) and digs per set (22.21) nationally.

Key Stats for Millikin: One of the top offenses in the country, Millikin ranks in the top 20 nationally in both kills per set (13.48) and hitting percentage .254).
