Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Knights battle back for a tie with Canisius

The Clarkson offensive power that many have been looking for exploded in the first 10 minutes of the game vs Canisius and Clarkson jumped out to a quick lead.  Just a 1:49 into the game Zach Tsekos scored his 2nd of the season from Anthony Romano.  The Knights were buzzing and drew a penalty shot that Lukas Kaelble took but was not able to score, but the pressure continued when Jordan Power scored his first of the season at 10:08, assists going to Michael Underwood and George Grannis getting his first point as a Golden Knight.  The Knights went up 3-0 at 12:56 when Lukas Kaelble got his second of the season, from Ayrton Martino, his first point as a Golden Knight and Anthony Romano.  Kaelble's goal represented the first power play goal of the season for Clarkson.

With all the momentum going their way, the Knights allowed a 4 on 4 goal at 16:21 when Simon Gravel got a breakaway off a face off and pulled the Griffs to within 2 after a period of play.

Tsekos v Canisius

The Knights continued to have pressure and shots but seemed to be snake bitten as the second and third period went on.  Canisius was able to pull even near the end of the 2nd and then take the lead early in the 3rd.  Clarkson continued to press and get chances, including a cross bar mid way through the period.  Clarkson called a timeout with just under 2 minutes to play and with the goalie pulled received some additional help when Canisius was nabbed with a Face Off violation penalty off the draw.  Clarkson on the power play would get several more chances before Kaelble's shot rang off the crossbar and ended up on Zach Tsekos's stick, who was able to bang it home to tie the game.  The 3 on 3 overtime saw Clarkson posses the puck for nearly 4:30 minutes of the OT and had several chances but was unable to score thus settling for a 4-4 tie.

Clarkson outshot Canisius 41-22, Ethan Haider made 18 saves in net for the Knights.  The Knights continued to draw penalties, going 1 for 7 with the man advantage, while killing off all 3 of Canisius' chances on the power play.

The Knights will be right back at home this weekend as they host Alaska Fairbanks only 3 weeks after facing the Nanooks up in Fairbanks.
