Marchant Retires
Former Clarkson Hockey standout Todd Marchant announced his retirement from the National Hockey League on June 29, 2011 after an outstanding 17-year career. Marchant, who was selected by the NY Rangers in the seventh round (164th overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, skated in 1,195 NHL games, playing for the Rangers (1 game), Edmonton Oilers (678), Columbus Blue Jackets (95) and the Anaheim Ducks (421). Marchant, 37, enjoyed his greatest professional moment when he helped Anaheim win the 2007 Stanley Cup. Marchant, perhaps the speediest skater ever for the Golden Knights, played two years at Clarkson (1991-93) before joining TEAM USA. After the 1994 Olympics Games in Lillehammer, Norway, the Buffalo, NY native began his NHL career for the Rangers, making his NHL debut on March 18, 1994. Marchant was traded to Edmonton for Craig MacTavish on March 21, 1994. He signed as a free agent with Columbus on July 3, 2003 and was claimed on waivers by Anaheim on Nov. 21, 2005
