Clarkson Ties Dartmouth 3-3

For the second straight day, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team finished its game in a tie, this time the Golden Knights skated to a 3-3 tie with Dartmouth at Thompson Arena in Hanover, NH.

Clarkson is now 9-0-2 overall and 0-0-2 in ECAC Hockey games while Dartmouth is 1-1-1 overall and in the conference.

"The outcome of today's game was a little disappointing after getting out to a lead, but Dartmouth did a good job fighting their way back into the game," said Head Coach Matt Desrosiers. "I thought we did a lot of things well and controlled the puck and play for extended periods of tim,  but Dartmouth was able to catch us a little too relaxed on a couple of their goals.  Its still good to come away with a point on the road though against a tough opponent"

One night after failing to score a goal in 65 minutes, the Green and Gold came out of the gates blazing. Nearly eight minutes into the game, the Golden Knights were on the scoreboard. It came on a power-play with sophomore Savannah Harmon scoring the goal. Senior assistant captains Erin Ambrose and Olivia Howe got the assists. It was the first point of the season for Ambrose.

Clarkson doubled its lead at 15:33 in the first. Junior Genevieve Bannon scored the first short-handed goal of the season for Clarkson. Leading scorer and junior assistant captain Cayley Mercer added a third with two and a half minutes left in the first period.

Those three goals were all Clarkson could muster though, and in the second and third periods, Dartmouth muscled itself back into the game.

The Big Green scored their first goal with three minutes left in the second period and then added a power-play goal with just 26 seconds left in the period.

Just five minutes into the third period, the game was tied. Lindsey Allen scored the goal for Dartmouth.

In the final twenty minutes, neither team could score the winning goal and so for the second night in a row, Clarkson came away with a single point.

The Knights outshot the Big Green 32-20. Sophomore Shea Tiley made 17 saves. Clarkson was 1-of-2 on the power play and killed off three of Dartmouth's four man-advantage opportunities.

Clarkson will again be on the road when the Golden Knights travel to Union and Rensselaer for ECAC Hockey games.
