Clarkson continued to push the pace today and completed the two game sweep of Sacred Heart.
Clarkson was able to kill off a 2 player advantage early for Sacred Heart and then started the pressure on Pioneers goalie, Frankie Sanchez. The Knights held a 10-0 shot advantage 12 minutes into the period when
Haley Winn got her second of the weekend. Her unassisted goal at 14:22 put the Knights up 1-0.
Jenna Goodwin got her first as a Golden Knight and the Knights were up 2 after one.
The second period the Knights got the 3rd goal from their freshman class when Baliee Kirwan scored at the 7:16 mark from
Olivia Hanson and
Stephanie Markowski.
Caitrin Lonergan tallied her second on the weekend to put the Knights up 4-0 after two.
Sacred Heart was able to get on the board at 10:07 of the third when Erin Fleming was able to get a shot past
Amanda Zeglen. Clarkson answered right back 20 seconds later when
Jenna Goodwin got her 2nd of the game to finish off the scoring for the Knights.
Amanda Zeglen made 13 saves in net for the Knights, she was relived by
Alexa Madrid at the 4:37 mark. Madrid did not face any shots. Clarkson was 1 for 6 on the power play, and the Pioneers were 0 for 4.
Clarkson will next travel to Syracuse to face the Orange on Thursday Oct. 7th and then will host the Orange on Sat. Oct. 9th.
